Theo Terry

Articled Law Student

Theo (he/him/his) is a summer student at Moore Edgar Lyster LLP, having completed his second year of law school at the Peter A. Allard at the University of British Columbia, where he will return after the summer to complete his third and final year.

Motivated by his commitment to workers’ rights and social justice, Theo went to law school to pursue a career in union-side labour law. In his second year, he was selected to represent UBC in the National Labour Arbitration Competition moot, giving him the opportunity to strengthen his advocacy and research skills by preparing for, and competing in, a mock labour arbitration. Theo also volunteered with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), a student-run legal clinic providing free legal advice and assistance to low-income residents of British Columbia. As an LSLAP clinician and clinic head, he assisted clients with a range of legal issues including employment, human rights, tenancy, small claims, and criminal matters, and appeared in Provincial Court and at a variety of administrative tribunals.

Prior to law school, Theo studied fine arts at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. As a visual artist, his work has been exhibited at various local institutions. Theo also worked in technology hardware manufacturing before returning to university to study law.

Since 2013, he has volunteered for the Vancouver Street Soccer League, a non-profit organization which provides free soccer programming for marginalized individuals primarily from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community. Outside of work, he can usually be found playing soccer, riding bicycles, or reading.
