Jerika Caduhada
Articled Law Student
Jerika (she/her) is an articled student at Moore Edgar Lyster LLP. She recently graduated from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. Jerika first joined Moore Edgar Lyster LLP as a summer student after her second year of law school and is excited to return to the firm for her articles.
Jerika has long been interested in advancing workers’ rights but is particularly passionate about the intersections of workers' rights and migrant justice. While in law school, she co-organized migrant rights' rallies and met with councillors and Members of the Legislative Assembly to advocate for supports and policies to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable communities in Canada. She also served as an Executive of the Racialized Law Student Collective, where she organized events to build community amongst racialized law students and to help shape the university's equity, diversity and inclusion policy.
Jerika also participated in the Julius Alexander Isaac Moot, a unique appellate moot that combines legal doctrine with critical race theory, and was a Legal Researcher for the Freedom of Information and Privacy Association of BC, spearheading a research and public legal education project addressing the issue of migrants' rights to information.
In her final year of law school, Jerika completed a clinical term at the Law Centre, providing advice and representation to low-income individuals in the areas of tenancy, employment, human rights and criminal law. She also had the pleasure of working as an Executive Coordinator for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, supporting their mandate of advancing justice, equity and opportunity in the legal community.
Jerika is fluent in Ilonggo (Hiligaynon), conversational in Spanish, and understands Tagalog. Outside of work, Jerika loves to read, dance, discover new community events and indulge in desserts.
