Heather (she/her/hers) joined Moore Edgar Lyster LLP in 2015 and practices in the areas of labour, employment and human rights law, as well as professional regulation.
Law is Heather’s second career. Before attending law school, Heather worked for over a decade as a social worker and advocate in community organizations serving people living with HIV/AIDS, immigrant and refugee families, and women in conflict with the law. From this experience, Heather brings to her practice a pragmatic, client-centered approach and an ability to work effectively with people experiencing crisis.
Before joining the firm as an associate, Heather clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal for Justices Donald and Garson.
Heather has a particular interest in cases that involve workplace drug and alcohol testing, as well as those involving employees with substance use disorders (or perceived substance use disorders). She speaks regularly on this subject.
Heather serves on the Executive of the CBA BC’s Employment Law Section. She is a keen supporter of Vancouver’s visual and performing arts scene, and when not practicing law, can be found attending dance performances, the theatre, book launches and art shows throughout the city.
